A Few Tips For Using Our Site
Learning to navigate a "networking" site can take a little time, but it gets easier each time you visit! Here are a few clues to help you get the most out of your time here.
FRIENDS
1. Now that you are a member of the site, you can communicate directly with anyone you have added as a "friend." To add someone as a friend, simply click on their picture and request to be added to their friend list.
COMMENTS
2. Please feel free to make comments on any of the discussions (forums) or blog posts by other members--that's what makes the site fun and interactive! Keep in mind that "comments" are generally able to be read by everyone who has access to the page on which they are written. For instance, comments written to blog posts and discussions on the main page can be read by all members; comments written in response to something on your page can be read by all of your friends; comments written in response to discussions within a particular group can be read by all group members. If you are more comfortable making your comments not visible to everyone, there are ways of doing that, too; just follow the directions when setting up your page.
MESSAGES
3. If you want to send someone a private message that cannot be read by anyone else, go to that member's page, click on the "send message" icon on the left hand side of the page, and it is just like sending an e-mail. You can retrieve your own messages by clicking on the small envelope icon at the top of your page. It will show you how many unread messages you have each day.
SITE MODERATION
4. Membership is by approval only in order to ensure the safety and privacy of members here. You can and should, however, invite other people that you know to participate in the site. Just send them an invitation by clicking on the "invite" tab at the top of the page.
GROUPS
6. The groups are set up to allow us to communicate on specific topics and discuss issues relevant only to particular disabilities. You are welcome to join as many groups as you would like, and if you would like a group set up for a particular issue or disability, you can start is yourself, or ask the moderator to set it up for you.
